About this resource
A new digital learning platform called Stand Up Be Counted looks at current affairs and aims at enhancing participation in the upcoming elections in May. Rooted in key curriculum objectives for citizenship with cross-curricular links to government, politics and history, these resources have been designed to: Help students understand the concept of democracy, increase students' knowledge of the electoral process, motivate students to take informed and responsible action, and encourage discussion on topical issues such as 'Should the voting age be lowered to 16?'. Teachers can download these flexible resources here which can be used as a standalone lesson or incorporated as part of another topic such as current affairs. Use the website and examples of young people's videos to source topical issues and encourage relevant discussion and promote independent thinking and further research by encouraging your students to visit the digital platform.
