About this resource

Vlogstars Competition 2017

Do you have talented YouTubers at your school? We're asking over 500 high schools (North West UK only: Lancashire, Merseyside, Manchester, Cumbria and Cheshire) to take part in our Vlogstars Competition 2017 to find the next YouTube vlogging sensation. The winner will get £1,000 donation for the school, £250 PC World vouchers for themselves and become one of our youth ambassadors. There are fantastic runners-up prizes too. This is a great opportunity for students to work with a large organisation, tackle real issues, build confidence and gain experience for their future. We'll promote the winners and school on our website, social media channels and through press releases. We'll also be hosting a prestigious presentation and photoshoot at our head office. The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a two minute video blog to appeal to young people and spread the word that wipes are bad news for loos to help reduce blockages and sewer flooding to homes, gardens, rivers and beaches. You can make a real difference! #UUVlogstars

"Use a picture. It's worth a thousand words." appeared in a 1911 newspaper article. In education, our expectation of all children is high. Every written and spoken word will count as they grow and experience life. The hook to draw children and young people into learning is key. TeachingHooks.com has been created to provide teachers and other staff in education with engaging visual hooks. TeachingHooks.com provides six week's worth of content for six terms throughout the academic year. The content has been randomly selected to ensure that children (and teachers) are kept on their toes. The images can be used on screen or as printed material to inspire and engage children with their world. The images are available for free, and sized at 1600 x 900px or 4:3 ratio. Just click on an image for it to appear in a lightbox!
